It's a ''feature'' that everything else WILL get reset to default position. So basically, the save ''feature'' only saves progression of your objectives. Saw that I could reset the world in the menu, but I hadn't encountered anything game breaking so I didn't bother. Was working on getting a nice pile of junk (mostly ignoring the actual to-do list), got a slick standing-up-straight spade shrine in my den. I had a blast for 3 hours in one session! It doesn't mean you won't like it, you might still decide to keep it, but it has to be your decision I still clearly stated the game is fun, it's just so short that I can't recommend it at this price and that's what it's marked "not recommended" I don't even consider this a "negative" review. But I can't recommend it to anyone else unless they just really like vapid meme games about honking geese. I kept it, but that's because I can afford to throw away $15 (and I'll grind out anything for achievements). You already own it, go put 10 or 20 minutes into it and make up your mind. Your refund window is 2 hours of play time. If you have any puzzle skills at all you can be done with it in about 2 hours or less. You either want to experience that for a couple of hours or you don't.
You run around honking as a goose and dragging stuff around to annoy people. The game doesn't change at all beyond what you experience in the first area. Go live their dream.Play it, you'll know within 10 minutes if you care or not. What apparently began as a joke between the developers online, has eventually culminated in one of the most memorable games of 2019.
In lesser hands, this game could have quickly worn out its welcome, but Australian developer House House should be applauded here. Either way, the overarching objective is to be an absolute arsehole, to the entire village, all culminating in a neat little twist at the end that underlines that geese – well, geese will act like this everyday given the chance. The game will likely take you less than a couple of hours to complete, but there is some replay-ability here thanks to some additional objectives that can be discovered should you wish to experiment with your new found goose skills. What I particularly admire is that everything you can do as a Goose appears almost believable. Pair that with the general goose hi-jinks and the very open approach to experimentation, and you’ll be guaranteed to have a great time. The whole game is presented in this wonderfully simplistic flat artstyle, and the animations of both goose and the village population are so well realised that it’ll bring a constant and persistent smile to your face. Or Goose-crouch your way towards a man reading his newspaper so you can steal his slippers, right off his feet. You can use your honk to attract attention, attracting a shopkeeper before locking them in their own garage, for example.
The game becomes a relaxing genre mix of puzzle and stealth, set to a chirpy piano soundtrack that plinks and plunks happily along with your actions. Placards will be made, signs will be placed – No geese allowed, and you will be able to access the next area to begin terrorising these town folk all over again. Excuse me sir, have you seen my glasses?Įventually, clear enough objectives and the residents will have had enough, giving rise to some sort of grassroots anti-geese movement. As long as you can cross it off the list. Of course, then you can steal his glasses and run away honking merrily. Get the groundskeeper wet by setting off his sprinklers or stealing his keys, or later – perhaps sneakily tying a small boys shoelaces together when he’s distracted so he falls over. Set in an idyllic countryside town resembling a quiet English village, each section of the game tasks you with completing certain tasks which you can tick off your goose objective list. You’re not just any goose, but a goose on a mission. And you get to live the goose dream – being an absolute jerk to everyone. The authentic waddle, the flapping of the wings, the wonderful vocalisation – “Honk!” a dedicated button just for honking – it is all so wonderfully animated and endearing. It’s got to be said – never has being a goose been so much fun.
